CS2 workshop maps: the best custom maps for aim training, utility practice, and warmup

Workshop maps are one of the most useful tools in Counter-Strike 2 for targeted improvement. They let you isolate specific skills, repeat scenarios until they become muscle memory, and train without the pressure of matchmaking. This guide covers the best workshop maps available right now, how to install them, and how to build a practice routine around them.

How to install workshop maps

There are two ways to get workshop maps in CS2:

1. Open your browser and go to the CS2 Steam Workshop. Search for the map you want, click Subscribe, and launch CS2. The map downloads automatically. Find it under Play, then Practice, then Workshop Maps.

2. In CS2, go to Play, Practice, Workshop Maps, and click Visit Workshop to open the Steam overlay browser. Search, subscribe, and the map appears in your list after downloading.

You can also load a subscribed map directly from the console by typing map followed by the workshop map name.

Aim Botz by uLLeticaL

Aim Botz is the classic aim training map with over 4.5 million subscribers in the Steam Workshop. It works for a five-minute warmup before a match or for extended aim training sessions. You can adjust the number of bots, their distance, speed, and movement trajectory. There is a headshot-only mode, bot durability adjustment for spray training, obstacles for shooting from cover, a timer, and a kill counter. If you only subscribe to one workshop map, make it this one.

Yprac Aim Trainer

Yprac Aim Trainer provides structured aim practice with multiple modes. It includes target switching, flick training, and tracking exercises. The map gives you measurable feedback on your accuracy and reaction time, so you can track improvement over sessions. It is a good step up from Aim Botz once you have the basics down.

5E_AimHub

5E_AimHub is a prefire map collection that helps you learn exactly where to aim on each competitive map. It includes recoil training with hit statistics, peek training that measures reaction time in milliseconds, hold training for shooting through adjustable gaps, and a reflection test for reaction speed. The built-in statistics let you compare results across sessions. This map is especially useful if you want to improve your performance in Premier matchmaking.

CSStats Training Map

CSStats, formerly known as CSGOHUB, is an all-in-one practice hub. It has a range mode with stationary bots for flicks and recoil control, a rush mode with advancing targets for shooting under pressure, a shuffle mode with moving bots for reaction and prefiring, and speed and accuracy challenges. There are also KZ and bhop courses for movement practice. You can choose weapons, bot count, spawn points, and difficulty. It is a solid choice if you want all your training on one map.

Recoil Master

Recoil Master focuses specifically on spray pattern training. It shows you the spray pattern for each weapon and lets you practice controlling it. The map gives visual feedback on where your bullets are going so you can adjust your pull-down in real time. If your spray control is inconsistent, this map will fix it faster than anything else.

Prefire Maps by lmtlss

These maps focus on deep prefire practice for competitive maps. They let you practice the exact angles and positions you encounter in matches, so you know where to aim before you peek. This is one of the most impactful training tools for rank improvement because map knowledge and pre-aiming create advantages beyond raw aim.

Movement Hub

Movement Hub covers movement mechanics including counter-strafing, jumping, and bhop courses. Good movement is what separates decent players from good ones. This map lets you practice the mechanics in a controlled environment so they become second nature in matches.

Yprac Practice Maps

Yprac Practice Maps focus on utility usage and map knowledge. They let you practice smoke lineups, flashbangs, and molotovs for each competitive map. Knowing your utility lineups and having them memorized creates a significant competitive advantage.

crashz' Crosshair Generator v4

This tool lets you customize and test crosshairs. You can adjust size, thickness, gap, color, and outline, then see how it looks in game. A good crosshair that you are comfortable with improves aim consistency.

crashz' Config Generator

This tool helps you set up your config and settings. It covers viewmodel, network, video, and audio settings. A properly optimized config reduces input lag and improves overall responsiveness.

Building a practice routine

A good practice routine does not need to be long. Thirty minutes of focused workshop practice is more effective than hours of deathmatch for targeted improvement.

For a warmup before playing, spend ten minutes on Aim Botz and five minutes on Recoil Master. For focused training sessions, pick one or two maps and work on a specific skill. Track your scores so you can see progress over time.

If you are new to workshop maps, start with Aim Botz and Recoil Master. Once those are part of your routine, add prefire maps and utility practice. The most impactful maps for rank improvement are the prefire maps and Yprac Practice Maps because map knowledge and utility execution create advantages beyond raw aim.
