CS2 9/23/2026 update: Rush mode, map selection changes, and clan tags

Counter-Strike 2 received a significant update on September 23, 2026. Here are the key changes:

Premier
- The map selection process was revamped to give players more opportunities to play on maps they've practiced on. Team 1 selects one map, Team 2 selects two maps, then Team 1 selects the final map. One of these four maps is chosen at random for the match.

Rush
- Rush is a new fast-paced 3v3 mode. Players battle across a series of battle arenas to reach the enemy's castle and win. Battle arenas are selected at random for each match. Capturing the tower after eliminating the enemy team or when time runs out wins the round.

Gameplay
- Players can now reload silently (but slowly) by pressing and holding the corresponding key.
- Exiting a sniper rifle's scope no longer makes a sound.
- Bullet trail display clarity and accuracy have been improved.
- The total grenade limit per round is now enforced by the "ammo_grenade_limit_total" parameter.
- Chickens now take damage from the Zeus x27 weapon.

Settings
- Sights are now independent of screen resolution.
- A new "Sights" tab has been added to the settings menu.
- New crosshair styles have been added, including a dynamic quadrilateral crosshair that better reflects weapon accuracy.

Maps
- Ancient: Fixed holes in the main area on the A-site. Door geometry and grenade rendering in the cave have been adjusted.
- Cache: Gaps and blue door overlaps around Mid have been fixed.
- Mirage: Scaffolding near the balcony on the A-side has been reinforced.
- Train: A pixel gap in the A-plank crates has been fixed.

Miscellaneous
- Clan tags can now be set for players who are members of Steam community groups.
- The Starjunk 95 music pack and Industrial Sunset Memories are available for purchase via the Store tab.
- Stickers can now be applied to C4.
- Statistics during the break now display results of all rounds, including the previous one.
- A bug where players could avoid a ban for kicking someone during a match has been fixed.
