- Total CS lists 61 callout names for Inferno, the largest set it has detailed for any map.
- Banana, Mid, Apps, Library, CT and Pit are the names you hear in every round.
- A and B sit close together on the map, but the routes make them play like opposite ends.
- Total CS describes Inferno as unanimously seen as a CT-sided map.
- The callouts are the same or very similar in CS2 and CS:GO.
Inferno packs tight routes into a small space. Volumetric smokes fill the narrow streets and short corridors and block paths without leaving gaps at the edges, so a smoke that covers Banana really does cover it. Areas sit close together and share similar names, which is what makes this map harder to learn than a wide one. Saying "one A" tells your team almost nothing. Saying "one pit" tells them exactly where to look.
Inferno first appeared in 2001 and has been part of every main entry of the series since. The CS2 version keeps the village layout, with stone streets, buildings, apartments and small courtyards connecting the two bombsites.
The B route: T Spawn to Banana
- T Spawn is where the Terrorists start each round.
- T Ramp is the ramp up from T Spawn toward Mid, with vision toward Top Mid. Total CS calls it a common spot for AWP duels with CT AWPers in Mid.
- Ledge is the small elevated spot just behind T Ramp, giving a different angle onto Top Mid.
- Car sits at the very top of Banana.
- Logs is the small cubby at the bottom of Banana.
- Sand Bags (B) are on Banana and usually get molotov'd out.
- Banana is the narrow pathway from T Ramp and Bottom Mid up toward B Site.
- Bottom Mid is the side of Mid closest to T Spawn, around where Underpass comes out.
- Top Mid is the side CTs hold by default.
- Underpass is the small underground area connecting Mid with Second Mid, and you crouch through parts of it.
- Bench sits to the side of Mid, directly opposite the crossover from Second Mid to Mid.
- T Apartments run along the bottom of Second Mid. Second Mid Door leads out of T Apps into Second Mid, and Back Alley is the final stretch that connects T Apartments to CT Apartments.
- CT Apartments are what people mean when they say "Apps" or "Apartments". Window is the large exposed window at the front of the apartments overlooking Second Mid, and Stairs is the stairway connecting Second Mid to CT Apps.
- Boiler is the doorway from CT Apartments out of Top Mid, located slightly toward A Short.
- Close Apartments is the hallway along CT Apartments that opens onto the Balcony above Pit.
- A Long is the pathway toward A that passes Arch and Library. Total CS notes that taking it can be used to split B from CT Spawn.
- Arch is the archway from A Long toward Speedway, CT Spawn and ultimately B.
- Speedway is the walkway that runs from Arch all the way to outside B, next to Construction.
- Library and Kitchen sit just outside A Site, and Library is directly accessible from CT Spawn.
- A Short is the pathway toward A that passes CT Apartments and Truck. Truck is the vehicle you jump on to gain access to Balcony and CT Apps.
- Patio is the small porched section of A Short that looks directly onto Top Mid, a common place for CTs to set up a crossfire.
- Long Corner is the corner tucked away in A Long on the far side opposite Library, and it usually needs a molotov to clear out.
- Pit is the lowered area on the A site below the Balcony and CT Apps, and a very common area to defend the site from.
- Dosia is the bottom right corner of Pit, named after a grenade a pro player threw to weaken two opponents so the bomb would kill them.
- Cemetery is the stone wall at the back of Pit that faces directly from the Balcony when exiting CT Apps.
- Graveyard sits toward the back of the A site, where the right positioning makes you very difficult to spot behind the walls at its entrance.
- Close Left is the box immediately to the left of A when approaching from Short and Truck side.
- Back Site (A) is the far side of the A bombsite from that same approach.
- Fountain is the water fountain in the middle of B Site.
- Quad is the stack of boxes at the back of B, a strong position to hold and duel players around.
- 2nd is the little cubby next to a set of boxes on B, closest to Quad and facing Fountain.
- 1st is the cubby between two sets of boxes, immediately to the left of the site when attacking from Banana.
- Boost is the boosted spot right next to 1st, giving good vision toward players pushing from Banana.
- Coffins sit at the back of B and provide a good headshot position to defend from.
- Grill is placed just outside the B bombsite and can be planted near.
- Dark is the shadowy corner at the back of B where defending players can hide.
- Construction is a large, ruinous area of the map just outside B. Sand Bags (Construction) are at its back, Garden is the green area immediately outside it, and Tree is the dark corner directly opposite the exit to Construction, nearest CT Spawn.
- CT is not CT Spawn. It is the exposed area the Terrorists need to smoke off when attacking B, or they risk getting shot at from near CT Spawn.
- CT Boost is the powerful boost position near CT on B that can still give a view of the site after CT has been smoked off.
- Well is the well near CT Spawn as you move from it toward B, and Terrace is the flowery area next to CT Spawn that overlooks Well and Speedway.

FAQ
Q: Are the Inferno callouts the same in CS:GO and CS2?
A: Yes, or close enough. Total CS lists the map and its callouts as the same or very similar in both games.
Q: Do I need to learn all 61 names?
A: No. The shortlist above covers most of what comes up. Total CS counts 61 callout names on this map, which is more than anyone needs at once.
Q: Why do people call Inferno CT sided?
A: Total CS describes it as unanimously seen as a CT-sided map. The tight routes reward whoever holds the angles first, and that is usually the defending side.
Q: Where are the callouts for the other maps?
A: Total CS has interactive maps for Ancient, Cobblestone, Dust 2, Inferno, Mirage, Nuke, Overpass, Train, Vertigo, Cache and Anubis. Cobblestone and Train are marked as CS:GO only, so their pages are not current for CS2.
