Missing textures, crashes on launch, or a game that refuses to start: the first step Valve's own support documentation gives you is the integrity check. It is a single button in the Steam client, and two details about it get misread often enough to be worth writing down.

Running the check
1. Restart the computer, then launch Steam.
2. Right click Counter-Strike 2 in your Library, or use the gear icon on the far right of the game's Library page.
3. Open Properties.
4. Go to the Installed Files tab and press Verify integrity of game files.
5. Steam then verifies the installation. Valve notes the process can take several minutes.
The same button exists for every Steam title, so the page applies to CS2 and to anything else in your library.
The "files failed to verify" message
Steam frequently reports that one or more files failed to verify. Valve's documentation calls this normal for most Steam games and explains why: the files that fail are local configuration files that should not be replaced by the check. The page says you can safely ignore that message. If you have re-run the verification because of that line, you were re-running it for something the tool does on purpose.
Two warnings on the same page
Do not run the verification while another system-heavy process is going. Defragmentation and virus scanning are the two examples Valve gives. Do not verify several games at the same time either.
What this page does not promise
This FAQ covers installation integrity, not anti-cheat. It does not state that verifying game files will clear a VAC notice, an invalid signature warning, or any "game files detected" message you might see in the CS2 menu. If your problem is a trust or signature warning rather than a crash or missing content, the integrity check is not the documented fix, and the game's own help entry point is where to open an actual ticket.
