Quick Summary
A Music Kit in Counter-Strike 2 replaces the game's default soundtrack with a custom one from a featured artist. It covers the main menu, round start and end, bomb plant, round win/loss, death camera, and adds a MVP anthem that plays for everyone in the match. Kits are purely cosmetic and have zero effect on gameplay. StatTrak versions track competitive MVPs.

What a Music Kit Does
When you equip a Music Kit, it replaces five categories of in-game music: the Main Menu theme, Round Start and End, Map Objective, Ten Second Warning, and Death Camera. On top of that, it adds a dedicated MVP Anthem that plays for the entire match, audible to every player, whenever you earn Most Valuable Player for a round.[1][2]

Equipping one is purely cosmetic. It changes zero hitboxes, zero damage values, nothing that affects how a round actually plays out.[1]

How to Get Music Kits
There are three main ways to acquire Music Kits in CS2:
  • In-Game Store: Open the Store tab, go to the General category, and browse available Music Kits for purchase.[2]
  • Steam Community Market: Go to your Library, find CS2, click the Market tab, and search for "Music Kits". You can filter using the Advanced Options to narrow down specific kits.[2]
  • Trading: If other players already own Music Kits, you can trade for them using Steam trading or third-party marketplaces.[2]
The only free Music Kit in CS2 is the CS:GO Music Kit, which was awarded to all players who previously played CS:GO when the game transitioned to CS2. It can be found in your Inventory tab among other items.[2]

StatTrak Music Kits
StatTrak versions of Music Kits exist, but per Steam's own item description, they track Official Competitive MVPs earned while the kit is equipped, not kills. The audio itself is identical to the non-StatTrak version.[1]

How to Equip a Music Kit
  1. Open your Inventory in the CS2 main menu.
  2. Find the Music Kit you own in the list of items.
  3. Left-click or right-click on the kit and select "Equip Music Kit".
CS2 lets you have one Music Kit active at a time. It stays equipped across matches until you swap it for a different one.[1]

Can Other Players Hear My MVP Anthem?
Yes. The MVP Anthem is shareable, everyone in the match hears it when you earn MVP for a round, not just you. This is part of why certain kits like EZ4ENCE became genuinely recognizable across the community.[1]

FAQ
Do Music Kits affect gameplay?
No. A Music Kit only changes audio. It has zero effect on damage, movement, or any other gameplay mechanic.[1]

What is the difference between a Music Kit and a StatTrak Music Kit?
The audio is identical. A StatTrak Music Kit adds a counter that tracks Official Competitive MVPs earned while it is equipped, not kills.[1]

What is the cheapest way to get a good Music Kit?
Several kits stay under $2, including Beartooth's Disgusting and 3kliksphilip's Heading for the Source.[1]

Can I turn off a Music Kit mid-match?
You can swap or unequip a kit from the inventory, but there is no quick toggle during a live round. The kit persists until you change it.[2]
