Quick summary
Valve added five workshop entities on 22 September 2026: minimap_volume, sky_camera_volume, sky_camera_volume_target, point_deathcam_bounds, and env_shake_volume. A later update on 14 October 2026 added a tool material called toolsskybox_occluder. Four of the September entities are volumes that change behaviour for players standing inside them.[1]
minimap_volume
Valve's update notes describe this entity as one that "enables a custom minimap image when a player is within the volume". It is the way to give a map its own radar for the area the volume covers.[1]
sky_camera_volume and sky_camera_volume_target
These two ship together and enable custom location-specific skybox rendering. Valve lists them on one line of the same update entry, which is the hint that they are meant to be used as a pair.[1]
point_deathcam_bounds
Valve's note reads "Added point_deathcam_bounds entity that constrains the player death camera". It limits where the death camera is allowed to go.[1]
env_shake_volume
Valve's note reads "Added env_shake_volume entity that allows camera shake only within a specified volume". The shake is confined to the volume instead of playing for everyone.[1]
toolsskybox_occluder
This one is a tool material rather than an entity, and it arrived later. The 14 October 2026 entry lists "Added toolsskybox_occluder tool material for CS2 Workshop Tools".[1]
Related scripting additions
The same September update added two scripting entities, CSRadarPoint and CSObservablePoint. They are listed under a separate scripting heading, so they are not part of the volume set.[1]
