CS2 net_graph: what the current build has, what Valve's snapshot lists, and what to use instead

Quick summary

net_graph is not in the current Counter-Strike 2 build dump. Valve's own console list does not list net_graph as a command either, but it does list two related entries: sv_max_allowed_net_graph, which caps what a client is allowed to use, and cq_netgraph, which draws command queue statistics on the HUD. A third-party guide says the command no longer works in CS2 and sends players to the Telemetry settings under the GAME tab. This post separates what each source prints from what it does not, so you can tell a removed command from a renamed one.

The two reference pages

Valve's "List of Counter-Strike 2 console commands and variables" carries the note "Retrieved October 2, 2023 Build: 9832 (revision 8384867)". It is a snapshot. Valve's own warning on the page is that some commands may have been removed or hidden by updates.

s2v.app's convar explorer names its build: 11162119, October 22 2026. It reports 1,246 console commands, 4,337 convars, and 1,457 entries flagged cheat. That makes it the current anchor for what the game reads.

What each page lists
  • net_graph: not on Valve's snapshot page, and not in the build 11162119 dump. Neither page documents the command itself.
  • cq_netgraph: on Valve's page at default 0 with flags cl and user, described as "Display command queue statistics on the hud". No entry in the build dump.
  • sv_max_allowed_net_graph: on Valve's page at default 1 with flags sv, cl, nf, rep, release, described as "Determines max allowed net_graph value for clients." No entry in the build dump.
  • cl_showfps: on Valve's page at default 0 with flags cl and release, "Draw fps meter at top of screen (1 = fps, 2 = smooth fps, 3 = server MS, 4 = Show FPS and Log to file )". Present in the build dump with the same description.
  • cl_showpos: on Valve's page at default 0 with flags cl, cheat and release, "Draw current position at top of screen". Present in the build dump.
  • cl_showtick: not on Valve's page. Present in the build dump as "Show current tick/time values. Bitmask: 1='render time' 2='GameTime' 4=time of predicted entities 8=offset of predicted entities".
  • cl_interp: not on Valve's page as its own entry. Present in the build dump as "Read the effective client simulation interpolation amount in terms of time".
  • net_showdrop: present in the build dump as "Show dropped packets in console".
The interesting part is that Valve's snapshot documents the server-side cap for net_graph but not the command. A server admin can still be told the maximum value clients may use, which only makes sense if the value exists somewhere.

What the community sources say

Total CS states flatly that "this command no longer works in Counter-Strike 2" and points readers at the Telemetry settings under the GAME tab, where the relevant options are set to ALWAYS.

A Steam guide lists cq_netgraph 1 as "Command for net_graph" and cq_netgraph_problem_show_auto 1 as "Display ping and loss in netgraph when we have lag". Two comments on that guide report the command as dead: "cq_netgraph is no longer a command" in June 2024, and "cq_netgraph 1 - unkown command" in May 2024. Those are user reports, not documentation.

So the three sources do not line up. Valve's snapshot has no entry for net_graph at all. The current build dump has no entry for net_graph, cq_netgraph, or sv_max_allowed_net_graph. Total CS says the command is gone. The Steam guide still lists it, and its readers say it is not recognised.

What to use instead
  • cl_showfps 1 draws the fps meter, 2 draws a smoothed fps, 3 draws server MS, and 4 shows fps and writes it to a log file.
  • cl_showpos draws your current position at the top of the screen.
  • cl_showtick shows current tick and time values. The build dump prints it as a bitmask: 1 is render time, 2 is GameTime, 4 is time of predicted entities, 8 is offset of predicted entities.
  • net_showdrop prints dropped packets to the console.
  • Total CS routes players who want the old net_graph look to the Telemetry settings under the GAME tab.
FAQ

Does net_graph still work in CS2? The current build dump has no entry for it, and Total CS says it no longer works. Valve's snapshot page has no entry for the command either, so neither reference page can be used to prove it works.

Why does the snapshot page list sv_max_allowed_net_graph if net_graph is gone? The page documents the cap and not the command. The cap entry reads "Determines max allowed net_graph value for clients", which implies the value was still settable when the page was written in October 2023. The build dump from October 2026 has no entry for it.

Is cq_netgraph still a command? Valve's snapshot documents it at default 0. The build dump does not list it. Two comments on the Steam guide report it as unknown, in May and June 2024. I could not find a Valve statement either way.

What do the flags mean? Valve's page prints a Flags column and never defines it. The page says nothing about sv, cl, nf, rep or release, so this post does not guess.

Is the build dump trustworthy? It names its own build and entry counts, and it is the page that lists cl_showfps, cl_showpos, cl_showtick, cl_interp and net_showdrop. Treat it as the current anchor and Valve's page as the dated one.
